Jana Bachmann (LUB – Linguistische Unternehmensberatung)

Diese Veranstaltung ist Teil der Veranstaltungsreihe „Early Career Training“.

This Input is about the development and promotion of an inclusive climate in research teams and a positive discussion culture at academic events (conferences, seminars, lectures, etc.). A just discussion culture focuses on the appreciation of the argument while reflecting on the individual biases. A positive discussion climate encourages participation and promotes the willingness to listen to and critically reflect on arguments beyond the mainstream. Questions we will ask: How do you moderate a panel session as a junior scholar? How do you prevent certain people from being interrupted or "talked over"? What can be done when this happens? How to deal with seniority issues in professional contexts? How to promote diversity- and gender-responsive discussions in the team or in public? etc.

The Input event is geared mostly towards Early Career Researchers. A presentation is followed by a discussion and Q and A about the topic.

The speaker, Dr. Jana Bachmann, holds a doctorate in political science and has been working as an independent communication trainer since 2012. In addition to her work as a trainer, she also works at the political level as a senior policy advisor at the Federal Ministry of Finance on the topics of combating money laundering and terrorist financing. Since becoming a lecturer at the University of Potsdam and the Free University of Berlin, she has additionally specialised in gender and anti-sexism training.
