Data protection laws came into full force with the EU-GDPR in 2018 and - since at least then – have become a perceived "nuisance" that researchers need to think about when collecting and analyzing data. Sometimes, this topic might seem overwhelming and lead young researchers to be unsure or anxious about knowing and implementing the required procedures. In this workshop, Peter Brettschneider (who is responsible for data protection at the KIM, a consultant for the legal department, and a member of the Open Science Team at Uni Konstanz) will address some common problems and questions concerning data protection that researchers at the Cluster frequently encounter and provide a practical and legal overview of the situation. The workshop aims to help early career researchers gain awareness of the crucial steps consider when handling personal data and helps them navigate the legal procedures required to comply with the EU-GDPR.
The presentation will take place on Zoom, all Cluster members will receive a link by email. No registration is needed. If you are interested in specific topics that are relevant to your research, please let us know beforehand (methodshub@uni-konstanz.de).
Participation: Cluster members, interested researchers from Uni Konstanz
Registration: No, all Cluster members will receive the link automatically.
