Meet the Cluster Community: Alexander Horn

1. Why are you studying inequality?

I have recently lived in Denmark and the USA. Inequality of recognition, opportunities, or income and wealth are so different there that these contrasts lead to very different political communities and have a strong impact on everyday life. Therefore, I am interested in how elites perceive inequality and whether they can influence it.

2. What are you working on?

We want to use online crowdcoding to go back to 1970 and capture what concepts of equality parties have and how that affects policies and inequalities.

3. How did you end up here?

I didn't want to do research in isolation with my Emmy Noether group, but rather in a larger group, as I was used to doing in my scientific home Aarhus. And the idea behind the Cluster and the enthusiasm of the Cluster speakers did the rest.

4. Recent highlight?

Being part of the community at the Center for European Studies at Harvard University as a Kennedy Fellow has been very exciting. My daily highlight is a little anarchist named Paul Jeppe.
