Early Career Researchers Support Fund
The Early Career Researchers Support Fund is available for research expenses and individual qualification measures of early career researchers at the Cluster. They aim at supporting early career researchers during their doctoral and postdoctoral qualification stages to further develop their personal and academic skills and create professional networks for future career perspectives.
What is funded?
Funding is available for research expenses and individual qualification measures that are not covered by the Cluster projects, including for example
- conference travels,
- participation in summer schools
- expenses for field research
- IT licences
- networking activities, coaching, mentoring
- training events for academic and transferable skills (e.g. career development online workshops)
up to the maximum amount of 1.500 EUR per supported researcher per year.
Please note:
- Transfer payments abroad cannot be refunded. Instead, you may, first, apply for the ECR fund and, upon approval, prepare a request to the procurement department for the payment.
- Unfortunately, printing costs for the thesis are not refundable.
Selected applications will receive the funding either as:
- refund of costs already incurred by the researcher (researcher will have to provide the invoice, bank statement, specific cost-related documents, and bank data needed for money transfer) OR
- cost coverage in advance where applicable
Combination with other funding sources is permitted. It is limited up to the amount of the expenses incurred.
Young researchers are eligible to submit several applications a year until the yearly flat rate per researcher has been exhausted.
Applications need to be submitted no later than three months after they were billed.
Who can apply?
Doctoral and post-doctoral researchers affiliated with the Cluster “The Politics of Inequality” (Affiliated Members in accordance with Cluster Bylaws) are eligible to apply.
How to apply
To apply, please fill in the application form and submit, if relevant, your bills. You may use the budget plan template if you have several expenses.
Applications are accepted at any time throughout the year.
The Early Career Researchers will form a selection committee and assess all applications with the Managing Office whenever applications are submitted.
