In the form of its Senior Fellowship program, the Institute of Economic and Social Research (WSI) offers research collaborations to dinstinguished researchers from Germany and beyond. Fellows contribute to the WSI's research agenda through publications and cooperative projects.

About the WSI
Since its foundation in 1946 the WSI has engaged in research and consulting towards fair and humane labour and living conditions. Researchers with a background in economics, political science, sociology and law collaborate on questions of economic and social policy relevant to employees and their representatives in unions and works councils.  The answers these researchers can provide are intended to promote solutions for problems in the labour market and to contribute to fairer distributions of life opportunities and social security.

The WSI is part of the Hans Böckler Foundation, which among other activities functions as the support arm for studies and research of the Federation of German Trade Unions, and which is dedicated to values of freedom, justice, and solidarity.

Since 01 May 2020, Prof. Dr. Bettina Kohlrausch (University of Paderborn) has been heading the WSI as scientific director.

About Marius R. Busemeyer
Marius Busemeyer's research interests cover the fields of comparative political economy and the welfare state, especially in the areas of education and social policy, educational and social inequalities, as well as public opinion and individual stances towards the welfare state. As Speaker of the Cluster of Excellence "The Politics of Inequality: Perceptions, Participation and Policies", he investigates the political causes and consequences of inequality. His current research projects are about the future of EU social policy (EU Horizon 2020 project "EUSOCIALIT"), the consequences of digitalization for labour markets, education and social policy, and the perceptions of inequality in students and adults in Germany.
