Schmalenbach Prize 2020
Prize for best dissertation in business administration goes to Max Reinwald, organizational researcher from Konstanz
Max Reinwald, postdoctoral researcher at the Cluster of Excellence "The Politics of Inequality" and member of the working group "Organisational Studies" at the Department of Politics and Public Administration, University of Konstanz, receives the Schmalenbach Prize 2020.
Since 1988, the Schmalenbach-Gesellschaft has been awarding this prize annually to honour outstanding research work which meets the criteria of being application-oriented, theoretically or empirically sound and representing a scientific advancement in business administration in service of business practice. The prize-winning work should build on the work of Eugen Schmalenbach, one of the founders of academic business administration studies and research. The prize is endowed with 10,000 euros and was awarded on 16 September 2020.
About the Schmalenbach-Gesellschaft
The Schmalenbach-Gesellschaft für Betriebswirtschaft e.V. is a non-profit organization aiming to promote the dialogue between business administration research, teaching and professional practice. It sees itself as a forum for exchange with the goal of bringing together academic and economic perspectives and stimulating new research. The society serves as publisher of the journal “Zeitschrift für betriebswirtschaftliche Forschung”, edited also in English as "Schmalenbach Business Review", and numerous individual studies.
About Max Reinwald
Max Reinwald's research focuses on the topics of diversity, leadership and human resources management. As a postdoctoral researcher he uses his expertise in the project "Integration at Work", which is part of the Cluster of Excellence "The Politics of Inequality" at the University of Konstanz.
Max Reinwald submitted his award-winning dissertation in 2019 under the title "Putting Workplace Demography in Context: A Cross-Level Perspective." It was graded summa cum laude and builds on three individual publications: gender diversity in leadership positions, the role of gender and age diversity in the composition of work teams, and the positive effects of a diversity climate on the performance of organizations.
As of 15 September, Max Reinwald holds an assistant professorship at the Institute for Leadership and Organization at the Ludwig Maximilians University (LMU) Munich, but will remain affiliated with his project group in the Cluster of Excellence.
