Data protection laws came into full force with the EU-GDPR in 2018 and - since at least then – have become a perceived "nuisance" that researchers need to think about when collecting and analyzing data. Sometimes, this topic might seem overwhelming and lead young researchers to be unsure or anxious about knowing and implementing the required procedures. In this workshop, Anuschka Haake-Streibel and Ralph Kraemer (who are responsible for data protection at the Office of Legal Affairs at the University) will address some common problems and questions concerning data protection that researchers at the Cluster frequently encounter and provide a practical and legal overview of the situation. The workshop aims to help early career researchers gain awareness of the crucial steps consider when handling personal data and helps them navigate the legal procedures required to comply with the EU-GDPR.
The event will take place in Y213 and on Zoom. A Zoom-link will be sent to all Cluster members shortly before the event.
