Briitta van Staalduinen
Briitta van Staalduinen is a postdoctoral researcher at the Cluster of Excellence „The Politics of Inequality“ and part of the Research Group "The Politics of Labor Market Inequality and Occupational Mobility" of Dr. Thomas Kurer. She holds a PhD in Government from Harvard University.
Her research examines how the transition to a knowledge-based economy has shaped ethnic, racial, and gender-based inequalities and the implications these patterns carry for progressive politics in advanced welfare states. She is especially interested in group-based mobility trajectories and the conditions under which they generate, erode, and exacerbate the political divisions that define contemporary Europe.
Research interests:
- Occupational change and social mobility
- Racial, ethnic, and gender-based segmentation in labor markets
- Welfare states and equal opportunity
- Progressive politics in knowledge-based economies
