NEPS Medal 2021
The book "The Internet and Political Protest in Autocracies" by Nils Weidmann (University of Konstanz) and Espen Geelmuyden Rød (University of Uppsala) was awarded the NEPS Medal 2021.
Based on a newly introduced dataset on political protest in autocracies, Nils Weidmann and Espen Geelmuyden Rød have produced important insights on the role of digital communication in the mobilization of protest movements in their book „The Internet and Political Protest in Autocracies“ (2019). Having already been awarded the Karl-Deutsch Preis 2020 as a result of this work, the two researchers have now received the NEPS Medal 2021 for their publication.
The NEPS medal is an annual award for the best publication in Peace Science published by members of NEPS. The Network of European Peace Scientists is an international association for the advancement of peace research and related studies in Europe.
