GAV-VR

An extensible framework for graph analysis and visualization

Thanks to the increased availability of affordable mixed reality devices, such as HMDs for virtual reality (VR), the research on the benefits of immersive environments for data understanding and immersive analysis has gained significant momentum over the past decade.
The investigation of interactive graph visualisation in stereoscopic 3D, thus, got increasing attention as well, not least because of promising initial results of respective studies. Since the implementation of virtual environments that support related research can be very time consuming, we developed a framework, Graph Analysis and Visualisation in VR (GAV-VR), for the popular Unity Engine. GAV-VR provides a broad selection of modularly extensible features that are commonly required when working with graphs in VR, covering interaction, visualisation, and analysis methods.
The goal is to enable researchers to rapidly test their hypotheses and take away the workload of (re-) implementing required functionality beyond the actual methods under investigation.
