Honeybee mass stinging behaviour
Data-informed parameter inference for population Markov chains
Trying to unravel the mechanisms of social feedback in honeybee defence through a mechanistic model which explicitly models each bee and its communication via pheromones, Zukunftskolleg Fellow Morgane Nouvain and PhD student Matej Hajnal have been collaborating to start building a tool which would allow easier interaction with experimentalists through a graphical user interface (GUI) and by transparently incorporating the mechanistic assumptions on the one side and data on the other. Specifically, the tool aims to implement several different methods for parameter search (refinement, sampling, Bayesian inference, regression), and explore how they can be combined for improving performance.
