Tracking insect migration through space and time
Migratory insects far outnumber vertebrates in terms of species and sheer abundance of animals. However, the way in which insects migrate, the routes they take, and their roles in ecosystems are not yet well understood. Using individual tracking and large-scale surveys, Myles investigates how insects migrate and how populations have changed over time. Understanding the role of migratory insects in ecosystems is particularly important in light of the recent global interest in insect population declines.
