TEDxKonstanz is an event organized by students and members of the University of Konstanz and the Max-Planck Institute of Animal Behavior. This event will be held on 2-5 March 2021 with the theme of Kaleidoscope: Patterns in Nature and Society.
With TEDxKonstanz—an independently organized 4-day event that brings a TED-like experience to Konstanz—leading scientists and artists will come together to discuss patterns against the backdrop of the technologies and issues shaping our time. Talks will address questions including: How does technology influence our perception of the world around us, and can AI mimic our human sense of aesthetics? What can we learn from the study of patterns to address general issues in science or facing our society? How do different cultures, or different academic disciplines, think about patterns?
Entirely virtual and free for all to attend, TEDxKonstanz is organized by students and members of the University of Konstanz and the Max Planck Institute of Animal Behavior.
From March 2-5 (daily at 17:00-18:30) you’ll hear from innovators and thinkers across politics, biology, engineering, and the arts. A snapshot of the preliminary program includes:
- Day 1: New modes of artistic expression (photographer Xavi Bou + robot painter Liat Gravyer)
- Day 2: Algorithms of complexity (AI artist Helena Sarin + engineering professor Naomi Leonard)
- Day 3: Music through a new lens (musicians Hubl Greiner and Mohamed Badawi + mathematician Jürgen Richter-Gebert)
- Day 4: Patterns of interactions underlying social issues (political scientist Anke Hoeffler + economist Maike Sippel)
Talks will be available in both English and German. The event will be live-streamed on March 2-5 for free and open access. In addition, 100 tickets are available for a live audience to engage in Q&A discussions with speakers following the talks.
