Neurobiology Students

For more than 30 years, NeuroDoWo has been an annual workshop organized by doctoral students for doctoral students. It provides a platform for Ph.D. students from national and international institutions in the field of neurobiology to present their current research and exchange their ideas, independently from their supervisors. Thereby, it also creates an opportunity for social and scientific networking and for establishing future collaborations. Especially doctoral candidates in the early stages of their research projects benefit from the non-hierarchical environment, which allows them to practice not only presenting their own work in a public forum but also asking questions without any hesitation. As a result, the workshop helps to foster a sense of community among young neuroscientists to become part of a supportive and inclusive environment that ranges from cellular, to cognitive, to computational neuroscience.

The keynote speakers Emily Baird (processing of visual information in bumblebees and dung beetles), Emilie Macé (brain-wide circuits for behavior in mice), Irene Senna (human multisensory perception and action), and Armin Bahl (neural circuit computation and behavior in zebrafish) reflect the diverse background of NeuroDoWo participants and bridge collective behavior and neuroscience. Further, the organizers are in contact with several companies (e.g., Thorlabs) to organize workshops covering relevant technical and soft skills.
