Behavioural recommendations to curb the COVID-19-pandemic: Individual, situational, and structural determinants
Adherence to COVID-protective behaviours such as social distancing, wearing face masks, or limiting the number of socialising partners, remains of key importance to reduce the number of infections with SARS-CoV2 virus. However, both over time and between individuals, there are differences in adhering to these behaviours, in particular along socio-economic dimensions. In this talk, I will outline determinants of adherence to key COVID-protective behaviours on multiple levels of a socio-ecological model of health behaviours. To illustrate these levels, I will provide examples of current research projects: A longitudinal online study examining socio-economic differences in the effects behavioural determinants, projects using ecological momentary assessment to examine momentary and situational predictors of adherence behaviours, and an interdisciplinary project examining determinants of and intervention options to limit the spread of COVID-related misinformation both offline and online.
